Interaction of Colors
Installation for the 15th Tour of the HfG Offenbach
Together with Prof. Petra Kellner and the students of the “Color II” seminar at the Offenbach am Main University of Art and Design, a color light installation was developed for the tour in July 2012.
The theme of the seminar was “Between black and white – experiments on spatial effects and spatial manipulation with colour”.
Starting from achromatic spatial situations, the students systematically explored, using 3D visualizations, how the perception of spaces can be manipulated through the use of color design strategies.
As a final presentation, the exhibition installation "Interaction of Colours" was created as part of the tour in July 2012, which made references to Josef Albers' colour theory concept and also to Ludwig Wittgenstein's "Remarks on Colours", in which he challenges the supposed certainty in the assessment of colours.
The installation used targeted sequences with fluidly changing colored light situations to illustrate the perceptual relationship between color, spatial context and the viewer's interpretation.
What color is the vest?
Which state is the “real” one?
In what color of light does the red pepper appear purple and the yellow pepper appear gray?
Is it possible for a dry wine to taste sour in yellow light and sweet in red light?
