Messebericht Tendence Lifestyle 2004
The first Leise trade fair appearance. Lots of people, good conversations and new customers. Leise presented the Leise collection for the first time between August 27th and August 31st, 2004 as "Talent - Young Designer".
The journalist Eva Keller wrote the following in the Frankfurter Rundschau on 27 August 2004:
"When May and Julie meet, the tray and shelf combine to form a bookcase; the console and bench form a shoe container. May and Julie are objects, they are furniture - what exactly is up to the user to decide. That's what the designer Knut Völzke wants. That's why May and Julie have no up and down. They are as ambiguous as their names.
It all started in May four years ago. Völzke assembled a board and two side walls to form a platform for the first time. Later he discovered the stick board, the grain of which is visible on the edges of all his furniture. The inventor of this wooden board was August Moralt - so the step to the August cube was not far. And now the Julies: Julie like the actress Delpy, Juli like summer.
(...) Knut Völzke from Leise Design in has decided to take matters into his own hands. Völzke not only designs furniture, he also takes care of sales and marketing, photos, press releases and the website. He calls this integrative design. 'It is my aim to accompany every step up to the sale.' In addition to a carpentry workshop in Westphalia, where Völzke himself used to work, workshops in the Odenwald and northern Hesse produce May, Julie and August.
The young entrepreneur values the Rhine-Main location. He and his talented colleagues know each other from their time studying in Offenbach and Darmstadt and have built up networks in the region. The designer sees himself in the right place in Frankfurt: "My furniture suits Frankfurt. Both have smooth surfaces, but also unusual places."
